The concern about fires in the province of Alicante continues, but it seems the situation is going to be better along the day.
The fires in Xàbia and Benitatxell are already under control, and the one in Bolulla could follow to be controlled in the next hours. In the last hours other sides have caught fire in the old dump of Ramblars, beside the Gorgos river, in a zone with reeds of the Salat gorge, near the Algar river and between Altea and La Nucia.
Apart from the most evident effects, we have to regret that they are destroying recharging zones of aquifers and, in some cases, there are important water wells in several municipalities. Undoubtedly, this will have negative consequences on the future availability of water resources.
