The Tajo Segura Transfer has been, for decades, an engine of the economy for the Vega Baja, in addition to allowing a green lung in the area that acts as a last barrier against desertification, a fixing element for the rural population and a strategic reserve food. The new cut in transferable flows that is now being proposed, apart from any other consideration, causes serious and direct damage in this region. Alicante society must demand that a sustainable and viable solution be maintained, from the environmental, economic and social points of view.
